INDUSTRY SOLUTION: ROBOTICS & AUTOMATION
Building the Next Generation of Robots
From industrial manipulators to autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), we provide the precision components and rapid iteration needed to bring advanced robotic systems to life.
Custom Components for Every Robotic System
Our manufacturing services are ideal for producing the wide variety of custom parts required in a robotic assembly.
Structural Components
Machine lightweight and strong structural parts like frames, chassis, and mounting brackets from Aluminum 6061 for an optimal balance of stiffness and weight.
Custom Enclosures
3D print complex, form-fitting enclosures in SLS Nylon or machine them from ABS to house and protect sensitive electronics, batteries, and processors.
End-Effectors & Grippers
Rapidly prototype and produce custom end-of-arm tooling (EOAT). Machine metal grippers for durability or 3D print lightweight, complex gripper fingers for handling delicate objects.
Gears & Drivetrain Parts
Machine high-precision gears and drivetrain components from durable plastics like POM (Delrin) or metals. For prototypes, 3D print them in tough SLS Nylon.
Sensor Mounts & Fixtures
Quickly create custom, precise mounting solutions for cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, and other sensors using our fast 3D printing and CNC services.
Wheels & Treads
Produce custom wheels by machining a rigid hub and overmolding a high-friction TPE tire, or 3D print flexible TPU treads for custom track systems.
Case Study: Autonomous Delivery Robot
A robotics startup needed to build a functional prototype of their last-mile delivery robot for field testing. The robot required a durable chassis, a weatherproof electronics enclosure, and a custom suspension system.
- Solution: We CNC machined the main chassis from Aluminum 6061 for strength. The complex top enclosure was 3D printed in SLS Nylon for durability and design freedom. Key suspension components were machined from Stainless Steel for high wear resistance.
- Result: The client received all custom components in under 2 weeks, allowing them to complete assembly and begin software testing on schedule. The ability to use multiple manufacturing processes from a single supplier streamlined their supply chain significantly.
Robotics Manufacturing FAQ
Which process is better for robotic parts: CNC machining or 3D printing?
It depends on the part's function. For structural parts, brackets, and motor mounts that require high strength and stiffness, CNC machining aluminum is typically best. For complex enclosures, lightweight components, and custom gripper fingers where design freedom is key, 3D printing (like SLS Nylon) is an excellent choice.
How can I reduce the weight of my robotic components?
We recommend two primary methods: material selection and design optimization. Choosing a lightweight material like aluminum or a plastic like Nylon is a great start. Additionally, we can machine complex pocketing features into your parts to remove mass without sacrificing critical strength.
Can you machine parts from my SolidWorks or Fusion 360 files?
Yes. While the universal STEP format is preferred for quoting, we can also work with native CAD files from most major software packages, including SolidWorks (.sldprt), Fusion 360 (.f3d), and others.
